Short Biography
Dr Farhat was for over 10 years CEO of Terranet (ISP) and Cable One (DSP), two licensed Operators in Lebanon with nationwide services for data and Internet access and a co-founder of C-Data Group. He managed two operations in Lebanon, two African operations and an ISP in Iraq serving over 300k subscribers. Prior to 1996, he was Principal Consultant at Dar Consultants, and Principal Engineer at ERA Technology, working in telecom and microwave fields.
He holds a PhD and BEng in Communications Engineering from Sheffield University, UK. He lectured at Universities in the UK, and at the American University of Beirut for 9 years, and was External Examiner at the University of London. He is the author of a book and over 20 journal publications and holds a best-paper prize from the Institute of Electrical Engineers, UK.
He is currently member of the External Advisory Board, CCE Department at AUB, Vice-President of the Lebanese Telecom Association (LTA) with ISPs and DSPs among its members, and a board member of PCA (Professional Computer Association). His current interests are licensing and regulations, broadband and management of broadband operations.
